Prices include up to 2 adults in vehicle.

On the Road...Pike (Denver area) 7/25-7/26.
$465./vehicle. Limit 8 vehicles.
These 2-day training events are geared toward beginner to moderate skill levels, but experienced skill levels will also learn more than they thought possible as well as
increase awareness. Emphasis is on safety. Courses include vehicle preparation,
negotiating the terrain, picking a proper line, map and compass, recovery techniques
using Hi-Lift jack, winch, and other tools, and back country awareness. Included is
both theory and hands-on driving techniques. Many handouts are included.

Vehicle Requirements On the Road Course  Frame-mounted tow points, CB
(handheld okay), no air dams (typically a plastic trim strip hanging down below the front
bumper) and good spare tire.

Big Truck Adventure (Roosevelt NF) 8/20, 21, 22.
$630./vehicle. CB required. Limit 5 vehicles.

This training session will take place in the Red Feather Lakes area west of Fort Collins,
CO and is for full size vehicles only -- 4x4 Van conversion, truck camper, Quigley, Sportsmobile, Earth Roamer, Fuso, and other full size expedition vehicles.

We will travel some of the established rugged roads that are off the beaten path, similar
to what you would encounter when traveling on your adventure. We will camp out in
route so this trip can be a shake-down cruise if you need it to be. Let’s get the bugs out!

Technical aspects of throttle and brake modulation in technical terrain, steering control,
vehicle dynamics for over-size high CG vehicles. Skill development for driver control and
comfort in uneven terrain will be emphasized. Recovery training will include many winch
scenarios, use of the Hi-Lift Jack, straps and “out of the box” techniques. We will work
on Stuck Assessment and safe extraction so safe use of equipment will be second
nature for you.

Field repair topics for vehicle, tires and equipment will practiced and demonstrated.
iagnostics of engine and vehicle problems will be covered for base familiarity of your
particular vehicle.

Camping and camp set up with cooking suggestions and food handling as well as camp
site selection and awareness for self protection in the event of perceived threats from
outside influences.

As with all my training sessions we will cover: vehicle preparation, field fixes, map &
compass/GPS navigation, driving in technical terrain and driving on adverse dirt roads,
vehicle recovery, self-reliability, medical issues, back country skills and camping
awareness.

"...awesome two days. Being new to the sport, I was a little intimidated going into this
class. But, thanks to Bill’s easy-going teaching style, I felt right at home. Not only did I
learn a lot about the mechanics of my truck and the importance of being prepared, but
we tackled some terrain that I wouldn’t have thought possible on my own. The strange
thing was that, whenever Bill would get out of his truck to spot me, I would immediately
feel at ease. I’d end up sailing right through and he’d say, “See? Wasn’t that easy?”
Well, what I discovered is that Bill's the one who makes it look easy. Anyway. Thanks
for a great two days. I definitely plan on taking more training with BB4WA.

"...immense gratitude goes to Bill Burke for his knowledge, understanding, and
awesome teaching style."
Kal Masri, AZ, 1/08

"It's rare to find someone with knowledge and trail cred, a sense of humor, the
willingness to share with the uninitiated like me. Learned a lot, met some great folks,
had fu-un.
" R.H., CA 11/00

"As always, your professionalism and depth of knowledge exceeded expectations."
M. Routh, Advanced Recovery Class, 2/07

General description of On the Road...

Courses are extremely comprehensive learning environments, with hands-on demonstrations and opportunities taking place on the trails. Tips and tricks for
negotiating the terrain will be blended with discussions, challenges and obstacles to
teach owners about their vehicle's capabilities.

You will learn:
●how to be more prepared (vehicle/personal) when going into the backcountry
●how to negotiate the rough terrain
●how to do a quick field fix when something on your truck breaks
●how to pick a proper line and how to spot another driver
●basic and advanced recovery techniques
●suggestions for modifying your truck and much, much more.

Instruction by Bill Burke will get you there and back safely, answer your 4-wheeling questions, show you the correct way to drive and recover using environmentally-friendly procedures, and give you historical anecdotes of the area.
